About MaterialQuant

Construction quantities. Made simple.

What this site is for

Material calculators usually stop at the point where the arithmetic ends and the ordering begins. You get a volume, and then you are on your own for the waste allowance, the rounding, the bag count, the supplier minimum and the cost.

MaterialQuant carries the calculation all the way through: net volume, waste, the quantity to actually order, how many loads that is, roughly what it costs, and a summary you can copy, print or send to the yard. The aim is that you leave with a number you can say out loud on the phone — not one you still have to do arithmetic on.

Construction review

MaterialQuant's construction methodology — shape treatments, waste practice, ordering and delivery assumptions — is reviewed by 786 Properties LLC, Custom Home Builder & General Contractor.

786 Properties LLC is a custom home builder and general contractor with hands-on experience across residential and commercial construction, custom homes, renovation, sitework, material procurement and construction management.

The review covers construction practice and the realism of the assumptions. The calculators, content and any errors in them remain MaterialQuant's own. 786 Properties LLC does not sell material through this site, and no result shown here is a quote or a recommendation to buy from any particular supplier.

How we handle uncertainty

Real materials vary. Concrete density depends on the mix; aggregate density depends on moisture and gradation; supplier minimums, fees and prices are regional and change over time. Where a value genuinely varies we publish the range and say so, rather than picking a midpoint and quoting it to three decimals. Where a figure cannot be sourced authoritatively, we say that too.

Every constant the calculators use, with its citation and its uncertainty, is listed on the methodology page — which is generated from the same data the calculators read, so the two cannot drift apart. Other calculator websites are used to cross-check our arithmetic and are never cited as a source.

These are estimating tools

Everything here is a tool for estimating and order planning. It is not engineering advice, structural design, or a substitute for your drawings, your engineer or your local building department. Project-specific requirements and supplier-specific terms should always be confirmed before you order. Typical figures shown as defaults — supplier minimums, possible short-load charges, batching increments — are common practice, not standards, and your supplier's actual terms take precedence. Where it matters, you can enter their real numbers.

How this site makes money

Display advertising, and in future clearly-labelled referrals to contractors or retailers. Advertising never changes a calculated result, and any sponsored unit will be marked as one. Nothing on this site is a paid placement disguised as an estimate.

Privacy in one sentence

Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing you type is transmitted to us. Details on the privacy page.

Corrections

If a number here is wrong, we want to fix it. Every constant lives in a single data file precisely so that a correction is a one-line change.
